Connection

It is not unusual for doctors to experience a sense of isolation, loneliness and overwhelm.
.
What's the solution to this? Connection. Connection to others, to ourselves, and to something bigger than us.
.
Who do you feel connected to? Who is your 'dream team' support network? Who would you call in a crisis?
.
When we are able to recognise the network of support that surrounds us, helping us and supporting us in some small, or big, way, then we can see that we are not alone and we do not need to take on sole responsibility in every aspect of our lives. Something doctors find very difficult to do!
.
Are there are gaps in your support network? Can you identify where the gaps are? What can you do to build connections to fill those gaps? Who could you reach out to for help or support?
.
Do you feel connected to yourself? Do you regularly check-in with yourself to see how you are feeling? Taking a few moments each day, to assess how you are feeling physically and emotionally, could save you from falling into a state of exhaustion or burnout.
.
Are you connected to something bigger than yourself? This sense of connection could look and feel very different to different people....for some, there may be a spiritual or religious connection, for others, there may be a connection to their community, or to a group of people working together towards a common cause.
.
Connection....bringing purpose and joy into our lives.
